New York is home to thousands of restaurants, but a new crop of cookbooks may inspire you to stay in the kitchen and cook, rather than order takeout.
The Daily News’ Stan Sagner has compiled a list of books that highlight the pleasures of New York City cooking. The titles vary from focusing on recipes from a particular eatery, renowned pizza hot spot Franny’s, to a survey of the city’s best bakeries.
There’s also I Love New York: Ingredients and Recipes, which Sagner describes as “an unabashed love letter to the growers and artisans” of the city.
“It’s one of the most beautiful cookbooks I’ve seen in quite some time if not the most beautiful,” he said. “I love the fact that it’s a celebration of the ingredients and the purveyors of New York and New York State and the Hudson Valley.”
Sanger’s other picks include a compendium of the city’s food trucks, and a book that includes recipes for beginning chefs.
