Part of 9/11 Plane's Landing Gear Discovered, Cops Say

Friday, April 26, 2013

A part from one of the commercial airliners used in the September 11th, 2001 attacks has been discovered in Lower Manhattan, police said.

The piece of a landing gear was found wedged between two buildings and has a clearly identifiable Boeing ID number.

It was discovered by surveyors hired by the property owner. They called 911 late Wednesday morning after discovering what they described as "damaged machinery."

The NYPD has secured the area and will make a decision on whether to sift the soil for possible human remains after it completes its initial investigation.
