Over the last decade Al Qaeda has evolved into a complex and far-flung threat. We’ll speak with journalist Abdel Bari Atwan—who interviewed Bin Laden on two occasions—about the future of the organization. He's the author of After Bin Laden: Al Qaeda: The Next Generation.

PHILIOR from BROOKLYN -- Thanks for the clarification. We'll just have to agree to disagree about that.

TONY FROM CANARSIE - SURE THEY CAN STRIKE ANY TARGET THAT WAY (I SAID "LET SAY"). MY POINT WAS THAT RULING OUT THE POSSIBILITY OF THE SAME KIND OF ATTACK IS WRONG AND UNSUBSTANTIATED.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ADVISE, ALTHOUGH I AM NOT CONVINCED THAT CAPS LOSE READERS. I APPRECIATE ALL CAPS AS I DON'T NEED GLASSES TO READ THEM. DON'T SEE WHY OTHER READERS WON'T LIKE IT.

PHILIOR from BROOKLYN -- what you write about the vulnerability of the new WTC buildings could be said about any skyscraper.

By the way, here's a sincerely meant tip: By writing your comment in all caps, you automatically lose 99% of prospective readers.

THE ASSERTION THAT AQ WILL NOT STRIKE AGAIN THE WAY THEY HAVE IN THE LAST DECADE IS UNGROUNDED, MOST LIKELY FALSE OR MISTAKEN, MISLEADING, AND IN FACT DANGEROUS AS IT RELAXES PUBLIC OPINION AND CONSEQUENTLY SECURITY.
THERE IS NO PREVENTION OR COUNTERMEASURES TO PROTECT LET SAY NEWLY CONSTRUCTED FREEDOM TOWER FROM THE SAME TYPE OF ATTACK BY PLANE FALLING FROM THE SKY.
PLANES ARE STILL FLYING OVER MANHATTAN. IN DECEMBER, I MYSELF FLEW JUST ABOVE GROUND ZERO ON A FLIGHT FROM MIAMI. ALL IT TAKES IS A ONE EGYPTIAN OR PAKISTANI PILOT DEVOTED TO AQ IDEOLOGY AND WILLING TO KILL HIMSELF ALONG WITH ALL THE CREW AND PASSENGERS IN ORDER TO KILL AMERICANS AND MOST IMPORTANTLY TO MAKE A STATEMENT. THE SAME KIND OF STATEMENT THAT WAS MADE IN BENGHAZI ON 9/11, WHICH, BY THE WAY, WAS CLEAR TO ANY MODERATELY SMART PERSON ABLE TO READ CALENDAR. IT'S TOO BAD CALENDARS WERE NOT DISPLAYED ON THE WALLS OF THE WHITE HOUSE AND STATE DEP'T.

I have heard that Al Qaeda was decimated immediately after 9/11, in large part because most of its operatives died in the attacks, and that without the policies of George W. Bush, it would have remained an insignificant threat. True?
