The reason for a lack of low to medium skill workers are the absence of these jobs. Now it is poor or rich. The garmnent industry is gone, de-industrialization, eg, Manhattan Wire & Cable, Swingline, Eagle Electric, etc etc The fact that there are no more telephone operators, receptionists, secretaries, manual bookeepers and bookeeping clerks as well as ATM's reducing the number of bank tellers by a huge margin has taken literally hundreds of thousands of jobs. Today you have to jump from poverty to hedge fund manager in one leap. Who is kidding who? We are not regressing to the economy and society of the 1900 robber barons, we're going all the way back to the society of Dickens. If you nwant a cure put a 100% tariff on far eastern manufactured electronics and clothing and watch things boom here.

I have been meaning to e mail and comment on the interview of a guest
from Feb 6th 13. Brian interviewed a fellow, whose name if I am not mistaken was Thomas King who I believe represents
the N Y affiliate of the NRA.

Mr Lehrer's ability to remain calm and unemotional when Mr King claimed
that the media was frequently inaccurate regarding some of the issues
pertaining to gun violence and about the shooting incident in Conn.

I have often heard Brian as he remains focused and unoffended by statements
or claims made by guests. I recognize this as a discipline and skill that the interviewer has developed. I do not hear the defensive tone from
Mr Lehrer that I have sometimes heard from other interviewers who seem unable to remain neutral once they or their colleges’ have been criticized. Brian displays techniques of a talented interviewer.

My regards
