You failed to provide a single example where it's not a bad thing. Did you think providing an example where it should be the men getting closer to the women's standard would suffice, and decide the line above would be inflammatory enough to draw attention?

I do not contest that conflict ridden macho environment of WP maybe one of the reason. But we need to compare the women figure with the proportion of women authors.

However there may be one more reason. Women maybe thinking that they have better things to do with their life than editing some dry articles on wikipedia. No prospect of socializing on WP maybe make editing it look like a dry and uninteresting thing to do.
