Jackie Collins on The Power Trip

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

Jackie Collins, author of 28 New York Times bestselling novels, discusses her latest, The Power Trip. Set on a state-of-the-art luxury yacht off the coast of Cabo San Lucas, a cast of global power-hungry elites turns sour when they find out maybe they don't control as much of the world as they thought they did.

Was there a last-minute cancellation that Leonard Lopate had to air an interview with the self-important Ms. Collins, whose characters "just come to me as I write"? (It shows.) Isn't this a little bit like PBS airing "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills"? Are you saying that not a single author of good literary fiction was available instead? Why give free press to someone who clearly doesn't need it, and whose books would make better doorstops than reading material?
