How Healthy Are the Oceans?

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

Fabien Cousteau, a filmmaker, oceanographic explorer and grandson of Jacques Cousteau, and marine toxicologist Susan Shaw talk about the health of the oceans and conservation. Susan dove into the BP oil slick in May 2010 to assess the impact of oil and the chemical dispersants used to clean the spill, which had a devastating impact on marine life in the Gulf and human health.

We need to make people care about the health of the Oceans...most people know about this now, but do not care enough to do anything.

I greatly appreciate the work both Mr. Cousteau and Dr. Shaw are doing. I would like to become more informed and active in their endeavor to save the seas and marine life. I can't attend the roundtable tonight. Any suggestions as to how to proceed would be welcome.
Thank you.

My understanding after researching CC that in the near future methane gas will be bubbling up from the bottom of the oceans(same as in dump sites); perhaps 10 yrs (hopefully not but maybe sooner?) How is that healthy?!! There is NO QUESTION THE EARTH IS UNSTABLE!(CC taskforce, scientist)
Man HAS to take responsiblity and MAKE CHANGES to STABLITZE THE PLANET without question- for a start- oceans!
I like our planet and humans- How bout you? Is it worth it?

Agreed - wish they would have explained why we can't scoop up some of the (larger) waste in the oceans. Not an ignorant question at all.

What food precautions can regular Americans take? (The eyes are already off much of the shrimp we consume.)
