Video: Bloomberg Spars With Assembly Member Over Education Aid

Monday, January 28, 2013

During testimony before a legislative hearing in Albany Monday about the Governor's budget, the mayor had a testy exchange with Assembly Education Committee Chair Kathy Nolan of Queens.

The mayor sharply criticized the Cuomo Administration proposal to deny city schools an education aid increase, because the mayor and the teachers union failed to meet a deadline to complete a teacher evaluation plan.

Nolan asked the Mayor why 99 percent of the other school districts from around the state were able to agree on a new teacher evaluation plan by the deadline, while New York City did not.

You can see video of the exchange below and read more about the Cuomo budget's possible impacts on education here.
