Monday, January 14, 2013

Ping Fu talks about growing up during China’s Cultural Revolution and how she made her way to the United States to become an entrepreneurial leader. She tells her story in Bend, Not Break: A Life in Two Worlds, depicting a journey from imprisonment to freedom, and from the dogmatic anticapitalism of Mao’s China to the high-stakes world of technology start-ups in the United States.

Ping Fu's 1996 book titled "Drifting Bottle: Random Notes from Living in America", written in Chinese and published in China, tells a totally different story. She had a normal and happy childhood in China, but a tough life in the US as a self-supporting international student; through part-time work she learned, in order to succeed in the US, one needs to be dishonest.

This may be good story, but it is quite different from my personal experience.

What I believe is that it is fake story, not real personal experience.

Wishful thinking dances with willful deceit, creates vicious cycle spinning downwards to the deepest abyss in human history that nobody can stop it. Whenever china is concerned, medias cook up negative stories regardless the veracity. Readers doctrines in this environment for decades are trained to accept anything other than negative. And their appetite grows over the years. Simple repetition of old stories won't catch the eyeballs. Thus more sensational ingredients need to be added. Gang raping, finger checking vaginas of all college girls, quartering people alive using four horses, ... . When there is a market like this, right commodities will be produced to satisfy the customers. It does not matter whether it is Fu Ping or Fu Qing or Fu Ring, there will be some merchants who seize this great business opportunity. Now the market is filled with such novels but claimed to be authentic, the majority accepts that they are true. Any different voice would be labeled as smear campaign organized by china. This, in turn intimidate people from speaking out the truth, and embolden those merchants to reap in their fortune with all means.

Is there a balance point that such downward spinning can be stopped? The unfortunate thing is that we can not see it in the near future. Such story is lauded by almost all the large news outlets. Such lady is providing advises to Michelle Obama.

What a liar! This lady, Mrs. Fu Ping, clearly is living in her dream and made the fake stories for the reasons to stay in USA legally. I guess she has already believed in her faked stories she about China after repaeating 1000 times in front of US media. What a embarassment for the main US media to make her a "hearo" or "star" based on her lies.

"亲眼看到几百名女婴被杀死"-- she saw several hundreds of baby girls killed ?
that's very appaling.I must admit that I didn't see one in Mainland.
I know that Sex selection and abortion is popular, but killing never heard.
If people dont want baby girl, they just throw it away on the streets, whom will be finally adopted by kind-hearted people or by Gov organization.
To my knowledge, she must be lying.

She is continuing to fabricate her story to meet some Americans taste and her purpose. It's sad and sarcastic to say that some Americans just believe what they want to believe, although USA is the most developed country! Its people are so naive!

It's not necessary to purposely say all good things about China. However, it is also shameful to fabricate some baseless story to meet your own agenda. Even under certain situation, you "had had to do" it (most of the students could "accept" it as at least a kind of "harmless lie", please, please, after you get what you want, just keep in a low profile and try to let people forget your baseless story.

What she did is just on the reverse side - continue to fabricate her baseless story and to broadcast it to all the world!

Stupid enough to do that! See how she would close this chapter!

In case you’ve not read this article which is a good and detailed analysis of some contradictions in Ping Fu’s book and they’re all in her own words:

It is sad that Americans love to believe what they want to believe. Ping Fu knows this very well and feed them with what they want to listen, even though her experience in China is a total fabrication. Her book is an insult to the intelligence of American readers, as well as an insult to the memory of Chinese people. Many Chinese are outraged by her blatant lies and left comments on her book in Amazon. Ping Fu recently tried to clarify her story on huffingtonpost and admitted reluctantly that her story is untrue.

Ms Fu, China has treated killing baby girls as felony back to 1978. It sounds so skeptical that you saw by your own eyes that hundreds of baby girls were killed by their parents. Mind to let us know why you had so many chances to witness parents' killing their baby girls?

It is very clear that her story is full of lies, only those cant read chinese and not familiar with modern chinese history will believe the story.

Some even can expose by simple calculation with a little bit background knowledge:

1. Fu born at 1958, and the Cultural Revolution happened during 1966-1976, and there was no way for a kid with her younger sisters/brothers would be sent to correctional labor camp.

2. Fu claim that she go to Soochow University at 1977. The National College Entrance Examination opened again after the Revolution at 1977, and during that time, "political censor" is a must, if she was in the labor camp, there is no way for her to pass the censor. Morevoer SooChow University established at 1982, how could she study there at 1977?

And Dr Fang is now condemning Fu about her lies, if you dont know whos he is, this is for your reference:

Fantastic interview, inspiring woman. I look forward to following her crusade of bringing manufacturing to a local level. I would also be interested to hear what she thinks we, as consumers, can do to help.

Ping Fu's story is amazing and the book is excellent. The conversation on the future of human rights in China continues at a free event with Chen Guangcheng, the blind activist lawyer who protested the one child policy, February 6 (
