In Newtown, A Father Sends His First Grader Back to School

Students from Sandy Hook Elementary returned to school this week for the first time since the December 14 shooting. Their school remains closed, so children are attending classes at another location in the neighboring town of Monroe.

WNYC's Yasmeen Khan caught up with Glenn Schicker, whose first grade daughter attends Sandy Hook. Her best friend and fellow first-grader was killed in the shooting.

Schicker said his family was "anxious to get back to a routine" — but that routine comes with a new reality in Newtown.
