Wonderful show! I missed it's live broadcast and streamed it
Mahalia Jackson was known in England also. When I was growing up, once a week there was a five-minute segment of Mahalia Jackson on the television and my father just loved to put it on and listen. I would often listen with him, if I could negotiate staying up for it. He absolutely loved her: "voice as clear as a bell," he would always say.
I remember the segment was always the same - Mahalia Jackson standing on a bare stage dressed in a pale, simple robe, singing. No showy hand movements, arms waving all over the place. She would stand so still and just sing. Glorious.
Thank you.

Thanks so much for extending the show to a second hour! Loved every minute and look forward to a repeat next year.

Happy holiday.
