Tonight on Soundcheck: Last week the Recording Academy announced the nominees for the 2013 Grammy Awards. Soundcheck regular Joe Levy weighs in on the surprises, snubs, and a strange footnote known as "Walsergate."

Then, record collector and music historian Amir Abdullah talks about researching -- and reissuing -- the music of  Detroit's short-lived but ambitious jazz label Strata Records.

And the PigPen Theatre Company -- a band, as well as a group of writers, actors, puppeteers and theater producers -- play songs for us off of its debut LP, Bremen, based on the famous old story of the Bremen town musicians.
