In Wake of Sandy, NYS Launches Commissions to Examine Response

Thursday, December 13, 2012

In the wake of Sandy, Governor Andrew Cuomo tasked three commissions with examining the state's preparedness and response.

Judith Rodin, president of the Rockefeller Foundation, is co-chairing the NYS 2100 Commission. She said its major focus will be looking at resiliency.

"Our goal will be to protect and increase the efficiency of the existing transportation and energy and environmental and infrastructure systems," she said. "Secondly, to strengthen the institutional and the informational networks that serve our infrastructure."

Her commission's also tasked with looking at insurance reform.

Rodin spoke on WNYC's Brian Lehrer Show on Thursday. Listen to the full segment here.
