Writer Sherman Alexie was on the Leonard Lopate Show recently to talk about his latest collection of stories -- his 20th! -- called Blasphemy. He also told us what he's been reading and listening to recently.

What have you read or seen over the past year (book, play, film, etc…) that moved or surprised you?

         Warrior, a mixed-martial arts fight movie that should have been as big as Rocky.

 

What are you listening to right now?

         Always, always Neko Case. She’s constant for me.

 

What’s the last great book you read?

         Steven Pinker’s The Better Angels of Our Nature

 

 What’s one thing you’re a fan of that people might not expect?

         Mixed-martial arts fights!

 

What’s your favorite comfort food?

         Tortilla chips and salsa
