60-Second Stir Fry: Kurt Alstede of Alstede Farms

Thursday, September 27, 2012

I'm going to start this Stir Fry by answering one of my own lightning round questions, "best reason to be happy summer is coming to an end:" farmers bring in boxes of gorgeous last chance foods to WNYC's Studio 4!

Kurt Alstede of Alstede Farms hauled a big box of tomatoes, kohlrabi, chives, Swiss chard and, of course, sweet corn, our Last Chance Foods topic, from Chester, N.J., on the train.

He also came prepared for the "favorite comfort food" question, and the farmer admitted that his is neither a fruit nor a vegetable. Find out what it is by watching his 60-Second Stir-Fry video, below.
