My kingdom for a synonym! I'd love to hear any other term than "pushback" or "push back." Please? Soon? Examples: challenge, resist, check, repel, etc.

@Ed from Larchmont -

Were you trying to be cute/ironic or do you really believe the BS you spew?

During Survivor GOP,AKA the Republican Primary debate season, Romney showed that he was more than willing to misrepresent the President's positions in order to curry favor with the audience that he was in front of. His platform persona - deeply caring individual who is concerned by the growth in government programs - is at stark odds with Mitt the Plutocrat fundraiser who makes $10,000 side bets and uses the 47% of Americans who do not pay income taxes as a foil. Are these his true beliefs or was Mitt just using them as a spur to get funding from other Richie Rich's? Does it matter?

Bottom Line I DO NOT TRUST the GOP. They have no principles other than money. It's a kind of shameful position to start from.

I would like to know just when Romney's 2011 tax return was filed, and if it was amended from an earlier filing? Also, shouldn't a significant portion of his income be subjected to AMT? After all, there are millions of modest filers, +/- 100K, that find they are unable to make use of all of their deductions because those deductions makes their effective rate too low, and so, they become subject to the ATM?!?

@MartinC - Where was your outrage when Dubya and the GOP DOUBLED the DEBT? It was nowhere to be seen is where it was!! And 3/4 of current deficit is driven by revenue shortfall caused by what? The recession.

Fastest path to closing the gap is employment. But the GOP leadership would rather lose a body part than cooperate with the President. Precisely what is the GOP plan for creating jobs? They've got none.

Clinton called it right..."We messed it up, your guy didn't clean it up fast enough, put us back in charge." Not gonna happen.

The number of trolls on this segment is somewhat disheartening but at least they will earn their SuperPAC stipend checks...

Who knew that a birth certificate could be amended - like a tax return.

Sep. 24 2012 10:43 AM

Ed from Larchmont stop with your fantasies everyone has seen “the birth certificate”
If more people would look at facts instead of myths we would be better off

The latest guffaw from the Obama campaign is the claim that Obama has more Foreign Policy experience that Romney.

That same charge was applicable to Chicago "community organizer" Obama in 2007.

Kudos to Obama for wising up and keeping Guantanamo open.

It's interesting that this same reporter did not ask Obama if he had any tax shelters. What kind of an idiot pays more than they have to in taxes anyway? Generous (adn intelligent) people don't pay extra taxes, they give more to charities, so that they have control over where their money goes. That's what Mitt meant about being "qualified." If he was dumb enough to pay too much in taxes, he wouldn't be smart enough to be president. So much for the piranha media.

Another gem from the Letterman Show – when he asked barry if this growing national debt might be a problem (duh!) for the country in the future…
Barry said (watch the video)…”not in the near future, but, yes, in the intermediate and long term future.” (Translation: not before I get re-elected, and maybe even before I can finish my term and get out of here.)

NOT A PEEP from ABC or anyone else.

Romney's remark regarding "not paying a penny more " in taxes as presidential qualifying material was simple, casual, lighthearted
humor. Do most CPAs routinely tell their clients "here- you owe
$10,000 but just for good measure give them $12,000?"
Hasn't the objective always been in theory to pay as little as
possible in taxes, right or wrong ?

god almighty are educated people really as shallow and peevish as that?

I have a suggestion for swing-state voters who are tired of all the political ads: turn off the TV.

The problem for Romney is that he's too decent a guy to go against President Obama.

Can we stop saying Mitt gave 4million dollars to charity? The majority of that 4mill was to the LDS, which he is required to do to stay a member (or rather high priest) of the Mormon Church.

Brian, what percent of the "charities" Romney's donated to consist of the Mormon Church?

Regarding Romney's overpayment of taxes for 2011 -- He can file an amended return any time he chooses, even the day after the election, win or lose. It reminds me of his remark in the debate when he said something like: "I can't have illegals doing my yard work. After all, I'm running for president. He has no core, he's interested only in appearances.

Sep. 24 2012 10:11 AM

Can you review the exact timeline? If he made the statement prior to filing his taxes, how would he have made the change as you are suggesting?

Sep. 24 2012 10:11 AM

there are issues people want to know about other than Romney is a rich guy.

Don't forget, Mitt can always amend his returns after the election...

Romney pays more to the Mormon Church than he does to our government. Maybe they should start their own country.

Another OBARAMA SCANDAL .... David Letterman asked him how big the national debt is in dollars ... and Barry DIDN”T KNOW THE NUMBER !!!
It surpassed the $16,000,000,000,000 mark during your convention Mr. “President”.) Watch the video!!! The media ignored it!!!

Do you remember the weeks of publicity by the leftist MSM about Bush the elder’s not knowing the price of a carton of milk?

Unbelievable conspiracy of silence.

Governor Romney could give you his birth date and you would find trouble with him.

Martin,
It's looking more and more like you are in the minority, and not just on wnyc. I bet you love that. The republican congress is not even making a story out of your points. You're lost in the woods. Clearly, since we all know what you're talking about, the media has not shielded a thing. You're gonna need a bigger boat!

When President Obama releases his: birth certificate, records at Columbia, records at Harvard, I'll be at all concerned with Governor Romney's taxes.

Wait, it does matter that Mittt Rommey ppaid more taxes than he needed to because Romney actually did say something about not wanting a president who would pay more taxes than he had to once, doesn't anyone remember that?

Counter to Obamas pledge, Guantanamo is still open.

I wonder what did Obama see regarding the terrorists held in Guantanamo that changed his mind?

Obama LIED to the public back in 2007 when he said that after spending 20 years in Rev. Wrights church, he never heard anti-American rants from Rev. Wright. He never heard rants personally, never heard about it from his wife Michelle, never heard about them from his fellow churchgoers, never read about it in the church newsletter.

Usually when you lie BEFORE the election, that's the end of your campaign.

Polls mean nothing.

Anyone who deals with any sort of statistical analysis understands that numbers can say whatever you want them to say. They can be neutral or not; they can be relevant or obfuscation bait.

Who checks the method and the math? Too often I am forced to assume that a spiffy graph or 'news worthy' poll result gets put into the ether and then reported on as if it was simply a count of the number of red widgets on a given shelf.

Sep. 24 2012 09:50 AM
Martin Chuzzlewit from Manhattan

OK....so now we know that little barry obama LIED to our FACES about the death of Ambassador Stevens .... and that this would have been a scandal of Watergate dimensions to the media if it had been from a President McCain.

Why would these polls ever change when the Obama media shields the public from this person's continuing incompetence and perfidy?
