Ben Folds Five: A Trio Reunited

The alt-rock trio Ben Folds Five began their piano punkdom in Chapel Hill, N.C. in 1993, put out three albums adored by devoted fans and then, after seven years, called it quits. More than a decade of separate careers ensued and Folds, in particular, has kept busy: in addition to pursuing his solo career, he released a record of songs written with author Nick Hornby, and appeared as a judge on the NBC singing competition show The Sing-Off.

But now the group has reunited and released a brand new album, called The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind. Folds, bassist Robert Sledge and drummer Darren Jessee joined us in the studio to talk about about their latest effort, and why they broke up in the first place.
