Police Car Chase Injures 3 Pedestrians

Thursday, August 30, 2012

For the third time in two weeks, police chases in and around Newark, N.J., have resulted in serious injuries.

Three pedestrians were hurt Thursday afternoon when East Orange Police were chasing a stolen vehicle, and it collided with another, according to The Star Ledger.

Authorities said the three were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

This is the just the latest in a string of such incidents over the last 11 days.

On Monday, a 55-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle that was being pursued by East Orange police. And last week, a 13-year-old boy was killed when the carjacked vehicle he was riding in, slammed into a telephone pole in Irvington.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office says it's looking into all three incidents.
