Is the American work ethic doing more harm than good? Do we put so much emphasis on work that we neglect rest? Compared to other advanced economies, that seems to be the case. While our counterparts have national vacation policies guaranteeing thirty or more vacation days a year, the United States doesn’t even have a national vacation policy.

As we reach the end of summer, and of vacation season, we asked listeners: 'How much vacation time do you get at your job? Do you think it's enough?' We received responses from all over the country and from a variety of occupations.

Travis works in Pennsylvania and receives 6.5 vacation hours for every full month he works. Andrew works in California and receives four to five weeks of vacation a year, but would prefer to receive six.

Both Travis and Andrew asked that we not use their last names.
