Guest Picks: Michael Shannon

Friday, July 20, 2012

Michael Shannon was on the Lopate Show to discuss starring in the new adaptation of Chekhov's "Uncle Vanya" at the SoHo Rep. He also shared his, um,  unusual pairing of comfort foods.

What have you read or seen over the past year that moved or surprised you?

I got a book of Bob Dylan interviews that I find very illuminating.

What are you listening to right now?

My taste is so varied it’s hard to narrow it down. My last purchse was the 40th anniversary reissue of Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust... on vinyl.

What’s the last great book you read?

        Art Pepper’s autobiography, Straight Life

What’s one thing you’re a fan of that people might not expect?

        Reed Birney

What’s your favorite comfort food?

        Vodka… cupcakes?
