Americans will be able to test to see if they are HIV positive in the comfort of their own homes, thanks to the first over-the-counter FDA-approved test. The test, known as OraQuick, uses a mouth swab to detect antibodies in saliva, giving a result in less than 40 minutes. Dr. Kenneth Mayer is a medical research director at Fenway Health in Boston and a professor at Harvard Medical School.
