In Rwanda, July Fourth is Liberation Day, a holiday created to commemorate the end of the 1994 genocide. Jacqueline Murekatete is a survivor of that genocide, and in a recent Washington Post op-ed, she asked that this July Fourth, we celebrate our independence, but that we also remember those outside the United States who are still waiting to enjoy their freedom.
