Rosecrans Baldwin on Living and Working in Paris

Friday, July 06, 2012

Rosecrans Baldwin talks about living and working in Paris for 18 months and finding the experience completely unlike what he expected. His memoir Paris, I Love You but You’re Bringing Me Down, is a comic, personal account of observing the French capital from the inside out. He's also the co-founder of The Morning News and the author of the novel You Lost Me There.

Has he said anything that's not totally obvious to anyone who's ever spent a week in Paris? Or even casually knowing a Parisian? Or having watched a couple of contemporary French movies? And why are his admittedly myopic observations important or relevant? He talks about "Parisian offices" and "Parisian workers" and "Parisians" but really he's talking about HIS office and people HE knows. What a waste of tree pulp and airwaves.
