Cuomo Endorses Rangel, Jeffries, Velazquez in Dem Primaries

Friday, June 22, 2012 - 03:58 PM

Governor Andrew Cuomo has lent his political muscle to a number of local congressional campaigns. The announcements come just days before the primary election on Tuesday, June 26.

Cuomo on Velzaquez:

I am proud to endorse Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez for reelection to Congress.

Nydia is one of New York's strongest advocates in Washington and she has proven time and again that she gets things done. Whether it is bringing much needed federal dollars for public housing, education and our green spaces or leading the charge to pass the Dream Act in the House, she can always be counted on to deliver results.

Cuomo on Jeffries:

Hakeem is an inspiring legislator who transcends individual communities and represents the best of a new generation of Democratic leadership. In Albany, he has been a champion of some of the most pressing issues in our state including, making housing more affordable, strengthening tenant regulations and criminal justice reform. Hakeem’s priority is always to improve the lives of the people in his district and I look forward to the dynamic energy he is sure to bring to Washington.

Cuomo on Rangel (via Capitol Tonight)

I’ve worked with Congressman Rangel when I was in Washington. He has seniority. He knows the system. He’s been good with bringing things back to the state of New York, which is a major part of what the Congress does.
