George Martinez is an occupier who was also running for Congress. These are two separate things. He does not represent the Occupy movement. He had the support of many occupiers but Occupy Wall Street does not have and never will have any kind of consensus to involve itself organizationally in electoral politics

I hope that clarifies things.

Went to vote today and discovered I've been disenfranchised! I have lived in the same district since 1992, and same specific address since 2003, but my name was not on the voter registration list. The voter volunteeers went thru every index, confirmed my address and district were correctly correlated, but for unknown reasons I was removed as a Brooklyn Heights voter. I'm livid, but good luck getting this fixed, right?

George Martinez is an OWS activist running for Congress. This is a very young movement that everyone is encouraging to get more involved in electoral politics, yet David Freedlander is able to dismiss this effort without a second look at this remarkable campaign. Bad journalism kept George Martinez off the first NY1 debate, where they determined that his unwillingness to accept money was a sign that he was not a legitimate candidate. Later NY1 realized their effort and had to hold another debate, where George Martinez clearly shined, and also caught the incumbant in a lie. Now David Freedlander, DESPITE THE POLLS, is committing similarly bad journalism by disrespecting the significance and the credibility of the candidacy of George Martinez. I am very disappointed in this coverage.

Nan Hayworth is trying to create a fiction that she has helped out farmers in her district. It is total fiction. Here are links that throughly smash that fiction:

Brian, I thought George Martinez said in your interview w/him that he wasn't running as an "Occupy Wall Street" candidate--that his candidacy was a separate thing & OWS wasn't officially backing him.

How about Matt Alexander for Congress in the 19th.
