Cuomo Touts NY's Rank in New US Chamber of Commerce Report

Friday, June 15, 2012 - 11:32 AM

Governor Andrew Cuomo is crowing over a US Chamber of Commerce report that put New York in the top ten states for growth, productivity and livability.

"The focus of the administration has always been and will continue to be making New York work to help create jobs and grow businesses in every region of the state," Cuomo said in a statement. "For too long, state government stood in the way of business development. Those days are ending."

The Chamber wrote, "The Empire State’s large, complex  economy performed well across all measures,  placing in the top 25 in six of seven. The state  moved up 11 spots in this year’s performance rankings due to rapid [gross state product] expansion and per capita personal income growth."

Heather Briccetti, president and CEO of The Business Council of New York State, cheered the news. "The U.S. Chamber’s report that places New York in the top ten states in terms of positive policy developments, is a clear indication that the pro-business initiatives of Governor Cuomo and the State Legislature are starting to show results," she wrote.

The Chamber also ranked New York third in the nation in "Talent Pipeline."
