Pres. Obama Visits WTC Site

Thursday, June 14, 2012

President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama got a first hand look at the skyscraper being built at the site of the World Trade Center.

He also signed the final beam that will be used for the building’s framework.

He wrote: “We remember, we rebuild, we come back stronger!”

Obama thanked everyone for building the “incredible structure” and when meeting with the workers at the site told them “we couldn’t be prouder of you guys. This is what the American spirit is all about.”

The Obamas toured the 22nd floor of One World Trade center with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Port Authority officials.

The city’s tallest building is expected to be completed in 2014.

The couple was also in town to attend some fundraisers, including one at the home of actress Sarah Jessica Parker.
