Mr Chuzzlewit: You says that "the Jewish community considers Charles Barron’s candidacy a serious matter and a cause for great concern" and note that "former Mayor Ed Koch, Congressman Jerry Nadler, Assemblyman Dov Hikind and other elected officials" denounced him as "anti-Semite." Unfortunately, there is a lapse in the logic of that statement--"former Mayor Ed Koch, Congressman Jerry Nadler, Assemblyman Dov Hikind and other elected officials" do NOT constitute ""the Jewish community"; they constitute a select group of Jewish politicians.

There are also members of the Jewish community who have long been concerned that the incessant pandering of up and coming politicians like Mr Jeffries to what they are taught is what is needed to get "the Jewish vote" (a practice which itself reeks of anti-Semitism, since any form of pandering is offensive) has in fact done NOTHING to improve either the dafety of Jews in the Middle East and elsewhere, nor improve the 2nd class status of people living under Israeli occupation. So in fact, there are quite a few Jews in the "Jewish community" who are not afraid, and maybe even welcome, a refreshing honesty in formulating approaches to our horrendous "Middle East policy" [sic] which has dome little more in 60 years than help keep the region in a constant state of turmoil and tragedy, all in the name of big power political expediency and corporate profit mazimization.

I do not live in his district, but Charles Barron would be my pick.
Hakeem Jeffries sounds like he really memorized the talking points, he
was fed.

Charles Barron is right on the money, about what is going on in Africa.
Africa has always been a target for its resources, since the days of
King Leopold/Belgian Congo to the present.

The Palestinian People have suffered enough for far too long,
and we have been, in part, responsible. Because we finance
the government that oppresses them.

Charles Barron is right on the money.

Anyone who is uncompromisingly against Occupation, and NOT a First Peoples Native American living in North America, should take their own sense of Justice and pack up and LEAVE North America.

That applies to Mr. Charlie Barron too and his collection of 1960's vintage Nehru jackets.

"Barron has also at times praised Farrakhan, who has for more than 30 years made hateful statements targeting Jews, whites and homosexuals. During a 1999 appearance on Hannity and Colmes, Barron defended Farrakhan against allegations that Farrakhan is racist and stated unequivocally, "Louis Farrakhan is not a racist… I support Farrakhan.""

It's great you're having these congressional candidates on the show, but, now, after redistricting, I can't even tell what district I'm in. Why don't you guys put up a street map with the new districts on your web page.

Hear ! Hear! I am so in agreement with Mr.Barron. I am not African-American and do not even live in NYC anynore. BUT hre is so right about the rape of the African continent and the need to consider the Palestinian people. Also, he is so right about the Republicans not letting ANY bills get through Congress.

Jun. 14 2012 11:27 AM

Wow! Charles Barron is awesome. He sounds really authentic, no pandering. Not your typical politician. He's got my vote!

Hey, Yusef, do yourself a favor and don't waste your time on that one. Blinding ignorance, for real.

You are correct, I take back my statement. Mr. Jefferies was well spoken and made sense. I still think that Mr. barron makes the stronger candidate.

This man knows that the radical Zionist lobby would not allow him into Congress if he did not toe the line. For me what ever comes out of his mouth is nothing but lies. The civil rights of people color Mr. Hakeem Jeffries? Another self serving, coward politician.

Perhaps you are thinking of Jumaane Williams?

"Mr. Jefferies needs a hair cut and less ego. He sounds like an illiterate, whose one political trick is provoking police to arrest him. With the dreads and the "street attitude" he needs a bath, a haircut and some more schooling."

I used to talk to both Black Panthers and Black Muslims way back in the late '60s all the time back in Brownsville. I once challenged a Black Panther to open up a store across the street from me on Belmont avenue and compete against me in business. I told him to see what it's like to run a store 6 to 7 days a week in that neighborhood. Didn't seem interested. Easier to be "revolutionary" and rail against "the oppressors" than to actually have to work and deal with the hooligans trying to constantly rob you every day.

BARRON RESPONDS TO PRESS CONFERENCE BY ELECTED JEWISH LEADERS…..in the New York Observer. (link below) -

“Asked this afternoon for a response, Mr. Barron, a City Councilman and one-time Black Panther, didn’t take the bait, calling the presser a distraction designed to blunt the momentum of his campaign.

‘They are trying to distract me and have me respond to Dov Hikind and Ed Koch and Jerry Nadler. They don’t even live in the district, know the district or represent the district.’

Asked to respond to the specific allegation that he was an anti-Semite, Mr. Barron demurred.”

Martin, I am aware of this issue, I predict Mr. Barron will meet with local Rabbis and walk out with some form of a blessing. He is after all in politics in Kings county. I also predict he buys a suit.

I have never been a fan of Mr. Baron, but he is the better candidate here. Mr. Jefferies needs a hair cut and less ego. He sounds like an illiterate, whose one political trick is provoking police to arrest him. With the dreads and the "street attitude" he needs a bath, a haircut and some more schooling.

Mr. Baron has proven himself to be a force in New york, agree with him or not, he is a force for what he believes in and works within the system and with even the police to get there. That is called maturity.

Your listeners should know that the Jewish community considers Charles Barron’s candidacy a serious matter and a cause for great concern. On Monday morning.....former Mayor Ed Koch, Congressman Jerry Nadler, Assemblyman Dov Hikind and other elected officials held a press conference to denounce congressional candidate Charles Barron as an “anti-Semite”.

Even liberal Democratic Congressman Jerry Nadler stated at the event (links below) that Charles Barron has held an antipathy toward Jews....“that is so irresponsible, and so libelous and so disgusting. His election to Congress, to some extent, would legitimize this kind of anti-Semitic discourse and we don’t need that.”

HOW WOULD THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN COMMUNITY REACT TO A MEMBER OF THE KLU KLUX KLAN RUNNING FOR OFFICE??????
