Brooklyn’s Laurel Halo is at the forefront of a growing movement of female electronic music producers. The Ann Arbor, Mich.,-native sets herself apart from the crowd with her intricate, nuanced synth-based songs infused with techno, house, pop, ambient, and other styles.

Halo’s compositions also often juxtapose ethereal with deeply textured elements. “This Is What I Meant (Laurel Halo Remix),” for example, adds bass wobble and spikey, plinking samples to an airy dance tune by Anenon.

Halo has released two EPs since 2010 and has collaborated with experimental musicians the likes of Oneohtrix Point Never and Daniel Wohl. She is set to release her full-length debut, Quarantine, in June.

Laurel Halo performs at Webster Hall on Tuesday night.
