Adapted for radio from Bradford Smith's recently published novel "The Arms Are Fare".
University student Tedao has been drafted into the Japanese Army. Attempts to show both good Japanese and the evil Japanese soldiers. Officers suspect him of being disloyal because he believes the Chinese people are no different than the Japanese. Troop train is blown up. Tedao has been selected to execute Chinese villagers believed withholding the names of those responsible with bayonets in order to prove his loyalty. Sees other crime committed. Captain Hojo tortures prisoners by putting lighted cigarettes in their nostrils to make them talk. Tedeo kills Hojo and releases prisoners.
