On my bike, I was stunned by hearing "Near the Cross". What is this? Where is Leonard? I scrambled to do my errands and still try to note down these wonderful pieces, and was so happy to find the playlist when I got home. A long time gospel listener--your choices and comments were splendid. No apologies for it being "religious". It certainly goes beyond to our spiritual core...

Always enjoy this. As a Catholic this music was initially as unknown as I assume it is to Jews and others who don't celebrate Good Friday. I don't either (my faith is long gone).. but with these songs I remember Good Friday as a day of remembrance without the baggage.

This music is so gripping and ethereal. This is the music I heard in church as a child while visiting my grandparents in rural North Carolina and Kentucky. It's beautiful. Thank you. Happy Easter! Happy Passover!
