Jimmy Carter is a great man and one whom I respect for his integrity. He is mistaken, however, is his belief that mankind can ever do away with war outside the realization of the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. We cannot do away with our inherent imperfection and that, ultimately, is the cause of war. For war to disappear, that Kingdom must, in the words of the Lord's Prayer, come to be "on earth as it does in heaven." The Bible seems to me to be pretty clear about who will bring that about and it it God, no man.
