New Sounds Live from Ecstatic Music 2012

« previous episode | next episode »

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

From the New Sounds Live concert series recorded earlier this month, the extremely talented genre-blind sextet yMusic performs new works by Richard Reed Parry & Son Lux (aka Ryan Lott.)  Hear some new works by Richard Reed Parry, including a piece for stethoscopes & yMusic.  Parry is a multi-instrumentalist with the Grammy-winning rock band, Arcade Fire, and the co-founder of the post-rock outfit Bell Orchestre.

Also, there are new arrangements of songs by Son Lux from his inspired "write-and-record-an-entire-album-in-one-month" --something that NPR Music all but double-dog dared him to do.  Plus, a surprise appearance by the twin guitarists, Aaron & Bryce Dessner (of the National), and more.
