I remember the Dilbert strip where the pointy-haired boss was upset because 40% of the absenteeism was happening on Mondays and Fridays. I once mentioned that to a manager when I was at UPS, and he said it was probably like that at UPS too.

(Hint to the slow or mathematically challenged: Mondays and Fridays comprise 40% of the work week.)
