Live on Soundcheck: Mike Doughty

Mike Doughty founded the group Soul Coughing in the early '90s. Now he's off on a solo career and has a memoir out, "The Book of Drugs," which chronicles his battle with addiction and with the members of his band.

"It's awesome! I mean for real," Doughty enthused about writing music while sober. "I feel like I'm a real artist now and, like, what I'm doing is really ... I listen to the records and I say, 'That's exactly I wanted to do. That's what I meant.'"
