Patricia Manuel almost lost her shot at the Olympics due to injury, a compressed AC joint in her right shoulder. She has been in physical therapy, including painful daily immersions in ice water, since January 2011.

Manuel says rehab was the most difficult thing she’s done in her life.  It wasn’t just the physical pain, but the fear that she might lose what she calls “the love of my life”, boxing.

Her injury only made her more determined to be part of the Olympic team. Listen to more above.
