Ms. Eisner, noting pan-Floridian concerns about the economy, makes this distinction: "a great many Jews just like a great many Americans..."
This unfortunate phrasing suggests that American Jews are a separate entity from "Americans". Particularly in a discussion of a Jewish American political donor with a reactionary stance on a two-state solution, it is key to mention that Jews in America are fully American.

Criminals don't care what laws you pass. That's what makes them criminals. And guess what! Not all criminals are Jewish. Just the most successful ones :)

Nah, actually Madoff and Abramson are/were in prison. Bugsy Siegel was eliminated by his Sicilian partners. Even Lansky was deported from Israel. Not even all Jewish criminals are that successful in the end.

If only Citizens United had been decided in the 1930s - imagine what Meyer Lansky and Bugsy Siegel could've accomplished!

criticism of Muslims is NOT anti-Muslim

I hate when lefties muzzle free speech because they need to exercise their kneejerk reaction of PCism and defend Islamic fanatacism.

Jan. 25 2012 11:41 AM

So what's your point. Adelson can spend his money any way he wants and can Soros, and Saudi petro billionaires and take any tax deduction.

And John from office - these dual loyalty accusations are nothing but anti-Semitism..(even if made by someone who maaried a Jew)

Go and accuse Arabs, Muslims, Africans, Haitians in the US of having dual loyalty....

Hey Dboy,

We Jews always try to please, but don't always succeed, especially with a tough audience. Muslims should cop a sense of humor too. If Holocaust survivors can try to make someone else laugh, why can't "Palestinians" do the same?

Various comments on the BL show have linked huge individual contributions to the Citizens United decision. That decision dealt with corporate campaign expenditures.

Wha Wha -- all the lefties whining about republican donors....(and all the antisemites (oh, I mean anti-Zionists) coming out of the woodwork as usual...)

Guess what, Obama Fundraising Could Fuel A Small Economy

Obama's is one of the most expensive campaigns of all time -- having raked in $750 million in 2008 and potentially on track to surpass that amount in 2012. His campaign and the Democratic Party raised $224 million in 2011 alone, more than the Republican field combined.

In a flagging economy, it may be hard to fathom not only where that money is coming from but also what it could buy if it were diverted elsewhere.

And yes, one can have both a mother and a wife, and try to balance and be loyal to both. Only a bitch says you can only loyal to one or the other!

So how is showing Islamist propoganda than twisted and called anti-muslim propoganda??

Instead of cursing the messenger, Muslim moderates should be exposing, critiquing and stopping the many Islamist extremists and the hate propoganda they produce.

John, "boobie," Jew R' Newz. Without Jews there could be no 24-hour news cycle employing all these talking heads and info-babes. Without Jews or Israel, the world becomes so boring. If the news media did not have an ISrael, they'd have to invent one.

haven't a lot of countries been "invented" by European and American colonialism? It seems a little silly to call the Palestinians and invented people. Regardless of the Ottoman Empire, with everything that's happened since they ARE a people.

I don't care whether the left has the same number of mercenary billionaires as the right! That is not the point! The point is neither left wing nor right wing aristocrats should be able to purchase policy like designer jeans! I may be naive but I still hope to be living in the closest thing to a democracy that we can get. We may never get money completely out of politics, but the path we are currently on after the CU decision is the most dangerous we have ever seen and it should scare anyone - left or right - that cares about their opinion being heard!

A major reason why ordinary citizens have lost faith in our democracy:

"Adelson made a call and stopped that from happening..."

Jan. 25 2012 11:20 AM

This is the problem of having too many rich with too much money and broke governments - the weird rich end up using their money to set policy. Tax the rich and let governments deal with foreign policy.

How did I know that the Zionist, one trick pony, jgarbuz from Queens, will get into this segment.

Either you are an American or israeli, you cannot be loyal to two nations. The dual loyalty of jewish is a problem. When will we get out from under the "lobby".

Lol, the Palestinians are an invented people ... as are Iraquis and Jordanians. Gingrich is historiccally 100% right.

But the questions as written below is correct, should Citizens united or not .... and I don't see why not, the money comes from the left and the right and supports artists, copywriters, political consultants etc...
so the American people gains...who loses??

Jan. 25 2012 11:17 AM

Well, the rise of Islam and antisemitism again in America makes it prudent for Jews to support the ancient homeland, just in case. Anything is possible. A Palestinian state will preclude the chance of millions of American Jews to have a place to run to if antisemitism or ISlam comes into power in America, which is not out of the question.

My own mother wanted to go to Palestine from Poland in 1934, but she was dissuaded by grandmother - later murdered by the Nazis in the ghetto - from doing so.

Anyhow, as long as the Muslim Arabs do not recognize a JEwish state, and with the rise of more antisemitism and Islam in America, American Jews must prepare an escape route to Israel, and not give away liberated Jewish land to the Arabs. More American Jews are beginning to see the light, that nothing is certain, and no constitution cam protect you if a growing number want Sharia or some demagogue like Ron Paul to rule/

I agree - this conversation should revolve around the Citizens United decision and it's awful ramification, and no one in the Republican party is talking about it. Only the LEFT is willing to speak about CU.

At least we know who's backing him, CU makes it so donations are untraceable.

(I am one degree of separation from this guy, I worked in an office with a very nice older gentleman who counts Adelson as a friend and owned shares in Vegas Sands.)

big deal, more power to Mr Adelson.

The far left have their money bucks, whether it's Soros or the Saudi petrodollars that pour into the US to peddle pro-Islamist University-washed propoganda.

And why twist your knickers about Citizens United. The left has it's billionaires and the right has it's.

they cancel each other out and in the meantime all this money brings good jobs for advertising and TV time in the USA.

Martin's reactionary Zionism seeps out yet again. Sheldon Andelson has a right to spend his money as he sees fit but he is an ultra-right wing Zionist fanatic Likud supporter.

If you ever wonder why every politician is so happy to pledge their undivided loyalty to Israel, even though most of them secretly despise Jews, it's because they know the likes of Sheldon Andelson and Mortimer Zuckerman will cut them a check regardless, as long as they say the "right" thing.

Say the Palistinians are an "invented people" = 5 Million

Say you will move the US Embassy to Jerusalem = 5 Million

I am absolutely terrified of the ramifications of the Citizens United (and likewise Buckley V Valeo) decision that is coming to light in this campaign season. Lets just say that Gingrich is elected as POTUS. Is there anyone naive enough to thing that the Adelson family will not want something in return for their $10 million investment in the campaign? Quite simply, the Supreme Court has put our democracy up for sale to the highest bidder and what frightens me the most is that the Adelsons are just the donors that we know about! The law surrounding super PACs doesn't require any disclosure whatsoever - who knows what kind of sinister interests could be attached to the money pouring into campaigns this season. How many regulations, statutes and edicts will be quietly and inconspicuously changed after the election to suit the interests of the big money donors that helped elect the next president? This is a major issue that is not getting enough scrutiny from the public - we have to wake up...

Who is Barack Hussein Obama?

The media has been afraid to really explore the past associations of this secretive, distant cypher.

Hey, Brian, how about a segment with guests Tony Rezko, Reverend Wright, Reverend Pfleger and Bill Ayres?
You can show that photo the L.A. Times has of Barry and Michelle out to dinner with Edward Said.

Brian - I see that Sheldon Adelson's name came up again in the news this week - when it was revealed by the NYT that he was a major backer of the Clarion Fund, which produced "The Third Jihad" - anti-muslim propaganda that was broadcast to police recruits.

I see this dovetails very nicely with Newt Gingrich's "invented people" line regarding the Palestinians.

Forget the Manchurian candidate, Newt's the UnMenschian candidate.

Will you mention that according to the NY Times yesterday, Adelson was a supporter (funder?) of the anti-Muslim film "The Third Jihad," being shown to police officers? I hope so.
