Gloriously Disorienting

« previous episode | next episode »

Sunday, January 22, 2012

Some people only like music that meets and confirms their expectations: familiar stuff done the familiar way. But they're missing out on the glorious disorientation that music (or any art form) can provide when expectations are tweaked, creatively confounded, or even deliberately ignored. David Garland presents an array of music that may subtly or radically surprise and stimulate you, including new and unreleased music from Lambchop, Larkin Grimm, Sydney Wayser, Jody Redhage, Hospitality, and more.

I was very moved by the first set. Immediately went looking for the Lambchop piece and, as you've noted, learned it wasn't out yet.

Thanks for all of your efforts to disorient us over the years, David.
