Brooklyn (by way of Ridgewood, New Jersey) indie pop-rock trio Real Estate seems to have figured out the secret to making musical alchemy from suburban mundanity. It appears to involve immersing thoughtful and poetic nostalgia in gentle vocals and warm, rippling guitar melodies until the intrinsic beauty of those idyllic spaces and moments come into focus.
Bandmates and high school friends Alex Bleeker (bass), Martin Courtney (singer/guitarist), and Matthew Mondanile (lead guitarist) started the group in 2008 when the three returned to the Garden State after college. In 2009, they released their self-titled debut and followed it up with last fall’s Days.
