when andrew cuomo's father was in power he also promoted purchasing power from quebec. at that time quebec built the first stage of a huge hydro-electric project with devastating environmental and social consequences. after mario left office that project was cut back considerably. it was also revealed that andrew cuomo had financial interests in this project. i have no idea if this is still the case but if so wouldn't it be a considerable conflict of interest?

Bill from New Rochelle : I hear you Bill. But there are no words to describe how fed up I am with the political system and the incessant political theatre in this country.

Great speech...lousy speech...WHO CARES? THIS IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ENTERTAINMENT. It's a sickness..considering politicians to be entertainers and voting for them for how well they entertain with their speeches. Jesus Christ.....

Nick, a "State of the state" address is a VISION, not a BLUEPRINT. Hold your horses.

Once again we have pundits attempting to "interpret" the meaning of a politician's smoke and mirrors gobbledyg--k. If you have to "interpret" the meaning of what someone is saying who is talking in the same language as you, then he's not saying anything. Why is so much time wasted trying to figure out the meaning of the statements of politicians; people who lie for a living?

This has already been advanced in the NYRI pproposal; and was shot down by greedy upstate intersts who wish to keep their electric rates at 10 to 30% of the rates downstate.

They are only killing the golden goose, as downstate already supports upstate, especially the school budgets.

We need a direct power link to downstate; and it is pretty simple, excepting the politics.
