@Kate, I agree with you on "Wait Wait"; that show is excruciating to listen to. Most of the time, the only people who find anything funny are the panelists and the hosts. I swear there is a laugh track because most of it is not funny at all; the frequent laughs cheapen the show. On the last show, it seems only Alonzo Bodden possessed a funny bone.

Compare that show with "My Word!" on Radio 4. The panelists on that show are amazing.

the history of the world in 100 objects -

OK, this isn't specifically a comment for Brian, but he just mentioned it and I'm hoping someone at WNYC will see my comments on Radio 4 programming that we should be copying:

I am a huge BBC Radio 4 listener. I was excited about the History of the World in 100 Objects series, and listened to the first twenty or so objects. But ultimately, I stopped listening because it left me flat. It never left me feeling like I'd learned anything. Maybe because the segments were so short, and because they were so disconnected from one another. Maybe it's that he describes the objects more in an *artistic* than a *historical* way. So... I'm wondering - are you simply going to broadcast it as it was broadcast on Radio 4? Or will it be adapted at all?

The Radio 4 series I really, REALLY wish WNYC would copy is "Any Questions?" Brian Lehrer and/or Michele Martin (I know she's not WNYC) would be perfect hosts.

Also the "News Quiz" - which is similar to but exponentially funnier and more informative than "Wait Wait" which I find almost unbearable. Steal the News Quiz format!!
