Where is the PUBLIC public space ?

Where is the PUBLIC public space ?

Do people in NYC only have the Right to
freedom of assembly and freedom of
expression if they have enough money to
Rent space, buy space or buy permits and lawyers ?

Do the poor actually have any rights in NYC anymore ? The right to peaceful public assembly and expression ?

Moscow had peaceful protests about their
recent election - nobody was arrested (yet). So, how come NYC is so quick to
arrest our peaceful protesters ?

Where is the democracy in the US ?
Companies have free speech rights now,
how about PEOPLE ? or is it that only
entities with money have free expression and assembly IN PRACTICE ?

Why is their no constitutional challenge here ?

If you OWN a place, you have the RIGHT to use it. The PUBLIC owns the public parks and other public spaces in the city.
It BELONGS to them - they should have a right to use it and not have to fear having those rights removed by people whose job it is to Protect and Serve them.

NYC needs a REAL public space.

City should OWN the bldgs and RENT to schools! from A way to fix this problem...

The city should OWN the buildings and lands that house schools.

During SCHOOL hours they should RENT them to schools, during NON-school hours, they should rent them to anyone the city (and public) deems appropriate.

Separation of church and state/school issue solved...

(Oh, and have good signage for whoever
is currently using the building).

Why are we listening to this delusional woman? People who live in a world of infantile hocus pocus have no place in adult discussion forums.

...and many thanks to Judson for the things it did for Occupy Wall Street. I seem to recall a golden calf...

a lot of Broadway and Off Broadway theaters are empty on sunday mornings. Isn't this an opportunity that churches could use? It's been the reverse of theaters using churches for decades, so maybe it's time to return the favor.
