Wednesday, October 26, 2011

Republican presidential contender and (sometime frontrunner), Herman Cain is out with a new ad that features his campaign chief of staff, Mark Block raving about the campaign.

"Cain will put the word 'united' back in the United States of America," he proclaims. And then − 40 seconds in – while looking us all straight in the eye, Block takes a drag from his cigarette. Cool as a cucumber, yet oddly mysterious.

The ad has gone viral, and has even spawned a few parodies. Notably, this one, which stars "Jay Smooth, Herman Cain's chief of staff," who's "in charge of pretending his book tour is a campaign." Smooth calls his candidate "that random shmoe" who's "better than Mitt Romney" and pours out a 40 on the ground before a familiar "I am Americaaaaa" song closes out the ad.
