the woman cant change her upbringing or voice.
the Times is flawed but an institution of tremendous value..let's hope her position helps keep it afloat or maybe even better.
whats at issue here is giving attention to another story about a purchased dog when hundreds languish and die in shelters and on the street. how can someone who knows the news not be part of the solution to this? the disconnect is alarming.

Brian, I love you, and I love your show. But of the controversies this author faced, you gave her an incredibly slow softball by asking her to defend "clicker training." I'd really like to hear the defense a NY Times Editor gives for buying a pure-breed dog. I'm afraid this book (based on Amazon reader reviews, sounds like an anemic Marley & Me attempt) and her interview with you today did nothing to further the gravitas of the Times or what she brings as an editor. Disappointed all around.

Hey Bernie

I don't know. I divorced a wife with 5 dogs, and I stopped driving some 11 years ago. I also don't own a cell phone.

Personally, if it was up to me, I'd ban dogs, cars and cell phones in the city and employ homeless people to take us around in rickshaws.

I just hate the way she drags out the words with such smug complacency. ughh.
This is the mind of the editor of the New York Times. Lord, the paper is in trouble. She has the slow mind of a slug.

Did I hear use the word "unfirmness?" And she is the editor of the New York Times?

Gee... What is more important as a news segment... The future of the NYT, the election of a woman editor, or tips on how to raise a golden retriever puppy... Sigh.

Please talk about the issue of buying dogs. Our shelter system is completely inundated with homeless dogs which we kill everyday due to lack of space

What an awful voice! Pity the poor NY TIMES employees, stuck in endless meetings that she's running.

hey jgarbuz-
what's more annoying?
-stepping in dog fecal residue?
-or having to dodge a swerving mini-van going 7mph on the BQE driven by a hasidic man talking about important business on his cell phone while attempting to drive and put everyone else on the road in grave danger?

Imagine daily staff meetings with her! HA HA HA you couldn't sit far enough away from her.

Anyway, I'm sure she works really hard to keep her accent intact.

Yeah, John, animal lovers abound these days. I know because I have to step around the residue of left behind on the streets by them.

Personally, I think animals belong either in the wild, or in zoos taken care of by female zoo keepers.

Interesting how people love their animals. I have cats and cannot imagine being without them. If I had space I would have a dog.

The New York Times is a great paper for house training lap dogs.

Is her dog Scout a lap dog?

'Scout' a perfect name for her dog, it matches her incredibly tony affect.
