Twitter Opens New Office on Madison Avenue

Thursday, October 06, 2011

Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Thursday announced the opening of Twitter’s new Manhattan offices, which will serve as the company’s East Coast headquarters.

The Madison Avenue offices will house 40 employees, including sales associates and engineers.

“New York City is the city with more people on Twitter than any city in the world,” said Twitter chairman Jack Dorsey on Thursday.

He called the opening of the Madison Avenue offices a “first step” for the company’s presence in New York City, saying there will be opportunities for expansion and development.

The mayor said there are 65 Twitter accounts across city agencies with 300,000 followers.
