"Follies" on Broadway

Friday, September 30, 2011

Jan Maxwell, who stars as Phyllis Rogers Stone, and Danny Burstein, who stars as Buddy Plummer in the new production of "Follies," talk about their roles and the production. When former members of the "Weismann Follies" reunite on the eve of their theater's demolition, two couples remember their past and face the harsher realities of the present. The score features some of Stephen Sondheim's best-known songs. "Follies" is playing at the Marquis Theatre through January 22.

yawn...nothing more boring than stage actors pontificating on their current job...

Why is WNYC so obsessed with Actors? And why must every show interview the same actors within days of each other..?

Time flies, Ellen. That revival was 10 years ago!

Re: "Follies" Revival

You asked your guests why there haven't been revivals of this show.

I saw a production of "Follies" on Broadway about 5 or 6 years ago starring Blythe Danner and Treat Williams. Marge Champion was also in it, as was Joan Roberts, the original Laurie in "Oklahoma".

It was a very dreary production, done on a shoestring but worth a mention.
