What Made Your Year? (And What You Missed Out On)

Friday, December 04, 2009

Only 26 days left in 2009. Tell us what made your year. Name the best food, song, movie, book, show or cultural experience you had. We're reading your choices on WNYC this month.

WFMU Music Director Brian Turner says: "Getting to be a soprano guitar amongst Rhys Chatham's 200-guitar army in the Crimson Grail piece at Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park was the personal experience that ruled for me, especially as a longtime Chatham fan. You watch this video and you see some serious guitar faces being made, but I have to say that practicing for a week and watching this all come together outdoors where all the sections collided in this total harmonious dissonance made you feel total rock salvation. Being a player inside the blender as it escalated upwards was mind-boggling. Even the widow of the Lincoln Center Outdoors' founder stopped me on the way out to say how insane it was to see that event in the park."

But it's about you. Tell us what made your year. Name the best food, song, movie, book, show or cultural experience you had this year. We're reading your choices on WNYC this month.
