Guest Picks: Colum McCann

Novelist Colum McCann shares some of his favorite picks with us.

What have you read or seen over the past year (book, play, film, etc…) that moved or surprised you?

John Berger’s new book Bento’s Sketchbook is extraordinary. He always takes my breath away.

What are you listening to right now?

There’s a Californian band, “The Evangenitals,” (great name) that I’m liking.

What’s the last great book you read?

I don’t mean to be coy about this, but all the books I read have elements that surprise me; a certain greatness. Ann Patchett’s new novel is wonderful.

What’s one thing you’re a fan of that people might not expect?

What’s your favorite comfort food?

Ah, the old stereotype, I’m afraid: Guinness.
