The young Australians of Miami Horror have a sound that stretches far beyond the limits of Oceania. The band’s name is a nod to Southern Florida, but the grooves are French house, Giorgio Moroder-style Italian disco and ‘80s era German synth rock.

This single, “Holidays,” contains the Miami Horror trifecta of disgustingly funky bass riffs, cozy analog leads and relentless club beats — not to mention more than a little taste of the reverb-splashed vocals ubiquitous in contemporary indie rock. The overall effect is to take the neo-disco craze of the last several years and nudge it into the classic house era, making a statement on dance-oriented indie-pop that is catchy as can be and seriously fresh.
