Toronto’s Broken Social Scene is almost a social scene unto itself. The band grew from humble beginnings as a two-person basement project into a loose collective that spans as many as 19 members who work together to make the group’s brand of wispy, deeply layered ambi-rock. It’s a sound that is much-imitated, but few achieve the band's skin-tingling cinematic vibes. This track, “World Sick,” comes off the 2010 album Forgiveness Rock Record. On Thursday, Broken Social Scene performs at the Williamsburg Waterfront with fellow indie touchstones TV on the Radio.
